Anambra State Qualifier, 2018 Season

It was an exciting day for spellers in Anambra as they had the opportunity to represent and make their schools proud in the Anambra State Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee which was held at the Pro. Kenneth Dike Central e-Library, Awka.

Spellers from the nooks and crannies of Anambra State came in to showcase their spelling prowess and get a chance to cling a slot to represent the State at the South-East Regional Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

At the end of four exciting rounds, these spellers emerged the best spellers in Anambra. They are:

  • Ekemezie Christabel Mmesoma (2190) of Loretto Special Science School, Adazinnukwu
  • Nwafor chisom Marycynthia (2193) of Loretto Special Science School, Adazinnukwu
  • Chiekweta Ebube Marycynthia (2195) of Loretto Special Science School, Adazinnukwu
  • Ubani Giovanni Chimeremeze (2196) of Blossom Fount College, Awka
  • Ikeazu Mmesoma (2218) of Lords Concept Academy Okpoko
  • Emmanuel Nwafor Chinecherem (2222) of All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha
  • Akinwale Olubunmi Glory (2232) of Deeper Life High School, Onitsha
  • Olocha Chisom (2236) of Deeper Life High School, Onitsha
  • Eze Chibuike Timothy (2242) of Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha

  • Chukwuemerie Excellence (2296) of British Spring College, Awka
  • Ikeche Chisom Racheal (2297) of Beth-Roots Model School, Onitsha
  • Iloduba Isaac (2316) of St. Paul’s Seminary, Ukpor
  • Oledigbo Patricia Chioma (2340) of St. Monica’s College, Ogbunike
  • Chukwu Chidera Collins (2347) of Union secondary School, Awada
  • Umeanyika Prisca (2348) of Union secondary School, Awada

These wonderful spellers will compete alongside their counterparts from other South-Eastern states of the country for a chance to be National Finalists who can win N1,000,000; N500,000 and N250,000 for the Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd-Runner-up respectively.

The National Champions will also represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee scheduled to take place in Mombasa, Kenya for this year.

Our appreciation goes to the great coaches, schools and parents for providing their spellers with the opportunity to showcase and express themselves through spelling.

    Congratulations to the spellers. Its a pity there was limited publicity as I am just getting to know about this.
