Borno State Qualifiers – 2021

Spellers across the “Home of Peace” converged at Maiduguri for the Borno State Level Competition of the Nigeria Spelling Bee for a bid to clinch a spot to represent the state at the North-East Regional.

It should be noted that the current Senior 1st and 2nd Runners-up of the Nigeria Spelling Bee competition are from the state, as they graced the occasion to encourage the spellers. These are Sulaiman Dunoma and Alexander Amaike if Federal Government College Maiduguri respectively.

National Champions stand to win a One Million Naira or Five Hundred Thousand Naira Scholarship for the Senior and Junior categories respectively among other prizes.

The best National Finals spellers also get to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee championship.

The competition consisted of the written test and oral rounds.

At the end of the rounds, these spellers emerged to represent Borno State at the North-East regional competition, where they will contest alongside their counterparts from Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba and Bauchi States for a slot in the National Finals.
