Gombe State Qualifier, 2019 Season

The Jewel In The Savannah was home to the Nigeria Spelling Bee today as spellers converted to showcase their spelling prowess.

Among the contestants was Hauwau Abubakar, a member of Team Nigeria at the just concluded African Spelling Bee in Kenya, where Nigeria emerged the Best Spelling Team including winning both Junior and Senior Championships.

At the end of the contest, the before spellers emerged to represent the State at subsequent levels of the Nigeria Spelling Bee such as the North-East Regionals and National Finals.

• Halima Mustapher Hamza of Matrix International Academy, Gombe
• Ibn-Taimiyya Umar Dokaji of Al-Ahfad International College, Gombe
• Muhammad Abubakar Idris of Matrix International Academy, Gombe

• Fatima Usman Saleh of Al-Ahfad International Commercial College, Nassarawo, Gombe

These spellers will compete with other top spellers from the rest of the North-East states of Nigeria.

National champions win scholarships worth N1,000,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to the 2019 Edition of the African Spelling Bee in Uganda.

Registration is still ongoing for other States as the contest continues around the country.
