Kaduna State Qualifier (2019 Season)

The Kaduna State qualifier of Nigeria Spelling Bee competition was conducted today, the 15th of November. The competition which was previously scheduled for 3rd November was moved due to some security challenges in the metropolis.

It was a keenly contested event as students converged to clinch a slot to represent the state at the North-West regional competition.

After some rounds of the competition, these Junior Spellers emerged the top contestants:

  • Daniel Abraham of Oxford International School, Kaduna
  • Izuchukwu God’swill Okafor of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Angel O. Shaakaa of Oxford International School, Trikania, Kaduna
  • Pantong Elijah Nep of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Joy Ebonrelu Ibironke of Efficient International School, Kaduna
  • Ayomide Olotiki of Panaf Schools, Barnawa, Kaduna
  • Abdulhafiz Muhammed of Al-Itqaan Academy, Isa Kaita Road, Kaduna
  • Abdulmalik Ayomide Ogungbola of Panaf Schools, Barnawa, Kaduna
  • Awai Ann of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Faridah Mohammed Bawa of Al-Itqaan Academy, Kaduna
  • Amira Sabu of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Bada Joshua of Panaf Schools, Barnawa, Kaduna
  • Hisham Adinoyi Jimoh of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Khalid Yusuf Ibrahim of Oxford International School, Trikania, Kaduna

In the senior category, these Spellers were exceptional:

  • Muadh Muhsin Zibiri of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Ariyo Warisat of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Abdulsamad Usman Gomna of Gray’s International College
  • Nusaiba Yusuf of Oxford International School, Kaduna
  • Maryam Sadiq of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, Kaduna
  • Aliyu Yusuf of Zaria Academy, Shika, Zaria
  • Fatima Lawal Babamaji of Gra’s International School
  • Suleiman Habib of Oxford International School
  • Umar Farouk Muhammad of Al-Itqaan Academy, Kaduna

Both junior and senior top Spellers will go on to represent the Kaduna State at the North-West regional qualifier, facing Spellers from 6 other states such as Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa and Katsina States.

At the national finals, these Spellers will have an opportunity to win a ₦1,000,000 scholarship (Snr) or a ₦100,000 cash prize (Jnr) among other exciting prizes.
The 6 national champions will also win an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee 2019.

Our sincere appreciation goes to The State Host, Panaf Schools, Barnawa Kaduna for providing a conducive hosting environment for the Kaduna State qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee competition.

We wish to extend our utmost appreciation to all supportive parents who made out time to come and witness and encourage their Spellers. Our appreciation also goes to the hardworking coaches who invested much time into the success of the Spellers. We also say a big Thank You to all participating schools who registered their students for the contest.
