The Rivers State Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee started in a celebratory mood with hundreds of Spellers, coaches and parents in attendance.
The event kicked off with the Presentation of the 2017 Season’s Best Coach Award presented to Mr Chibuzor Martins Amarikwa.
Mr Chibuzor is the coach of Spellers from Deeper Life High School Port Harcourt Campus. His Spellers (Benebo Nchege and Jeremiah Nnaemeka) have achieved such feat as winning the last Season’s National Championship and 1st Runner-up positions. Benebo also emerged the African Spelling Bee’s Joint 2nd.
At the start of the spelling competition, spellers from across Rivers State spelt their way in a bid to be one of the best Spellers who will represent the state in the South-South Regional Qualifiers of the competition.
At the end of multiple rounds of spelling running into the evening, these Spellers proved their spelling prowess and will proceed to the Regional Stage:
These Spellers will compete alongside other Qualifiers from South-South states such as Delta, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom and Edo states for the chance to be one of the National Finalists who can win the Grand Prize of N1,000,000 and represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee in Mombasa Kenya.
We wish to say thank you to Graceland International School Port Harcourt for Hosting the Rivers State Qualifier of the 2018 season of Nigeria Spelling Bee.
Our appreciation also goes to the schools, parents and coaches for training such wonderful students.
