South East Regional Qualifiers – 2021

We are happy to announce that the first set of National Finalists have emerged as top spellers across all the South-Eastern converged at Obosi for the South-East Regional Level Qualifier of the Nigeria Spelling Bee.

The competition which was hosted at Divine Rays British School was a fierce battle of words as the best spellers from Enugu, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi states all did their very best to emerge as the Finalists to represent the region at the National Finals.

In addition to the One Million Naira and Give Hundred Thousand Naira scholarship for the National Senior and Junior Champions, National Finalists also stand to represent Nigeria at the African Spelling Bee and also win other prizes.

At the end of more than 9 rounds of both written and oral contests, the below-listed spellers emerged as the South East Finalists of the literary competition.

JUNIORS

  • Chideraa Okoye of Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje
  • Ikechukwu Mba of Deeper Life High School, Aba
  • Munachi Nwofor of Ridge Valley Academy, Anambra
  • Nkenna Chime of Deeper Life High School, Enugu
  • Paschal Ezechi of All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha
  • Sabon Somto Nnabude of All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha

SENIORS

  • Chibuike Ezeugwu of Divine Rays British School, Obosi
  • Giovanni Ubani of Blossom Fount College, Awka
  • Ogechukwu Mbah of His Grace High School, Enugu
  • Shalom Chinawa of Deeper Life High School, Enugu
  • Victory Nweke-David of Deeper Life High School, Enugu

These spellers will compete alongside other top spellers from the South-South, South-West, North-Central, North-East and North-West regions of the country at the National Finals.

The organizers express deep appreciation to Divine Rays British School Obosi for hosting the Regional Qualifiers, including providing accommodation and feeding for contestants and coaches.

We also wish to say a big thank you to all who contributed to make the event a memorable one for all, especially our hard-working coaches who painstakingly trained their spellers.
